Grass Wallet is an embedded Solana wallet available from the Grass Dashboard. Turnkey generates and manages keys in the background, while Grass says it cannot access user assets; the wallet supports rewards, deposits, swaps without pre-holding SOL, staking, and withdrawals.
The decentralized network Grass has officially launched Grass Wallet in its Dashboard. It abstracts away the underlying blockchain complexity, making network participation and reward management feel as straightforward as using an everyday app.
Four core features of Grass Wallet
Automatic setup with no learning curve
Every Grass account receives a dedicated wallet automatically. New users do not need a third-party wallet or manual chain settings, while existing users can access it from the Grass Dashboard.
No seed phrase to copy, with passkey protection
Private keys are securely generated and managed in the background by the professional key-infrastructure provider Turnkey, and Grass itself cannot access the assets. Everyday transactions are approved with a device passkey using a fingerprint, Face ID, or PIN.
Rewards and wallet tools in one place
Rewards earned by sharing unused bandwidth are delivered directly to the wallet. Deposit, gasless swaps, staking, and fiat on-ramp and off-ramp functions are integrated.
Address allowlist for safer transfers
Users can approve up to 20 frequently used external wallets. Transfers can then be sent only to addresses that were approved in advance.
Grass Wallet interface: the three main areas
When Grass Wallet is opened from the Dashboard, its interface is divided into three clear areas:
1. Asset overview (Total Balance)
- Total Balance: Shows the combined USD value of all assets in the wallet.
- Supported tokens: Lists the amounts held in GRASS, SOL, and USDC; select View All Tokens for additional token details.
2. Fund management and wallet address
- Wallet Address: Displays the dedicated Solana address, with buttons to copy it or open View in Explorer for on-chain details.
- Deposit: Add SOL or USDC, or purchase assets by card.
- Withdraw: Cash out to a bank card or transfer to an approved external wallet.
- Swap: Exchange tokens without having to keep SOL in advance for network fees.
- Advanced Settings: Manage passkeys or export the private key.
3. Rewards and staking (Earn More Rewards)
- Staking overview: Shows Staked, Unstaked, Withdrawals, and accumulated Rewards.
- Current estimated APR: Displays the current staking return, such as 5.8%.
- Action buttons: Provides Withdraw (unstake), Claim, and Stake controls.
How to use the main Grass Wallet features
1. Deposit funds
Grass Wallet supports SOL and USDC deposits through two methods:
- Card or conventional payment. MoonPay supports credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal or Venmo where available.
- Crypto transfer. Use the displayed Solana address or QR code to transfer assets from an external wallet.
2. Swap tokens without keeping gas
- No SOL needs to be held in advance. During a swap, the system converts a very small portion of the token being exchanged into SOL to pay the Solana network fee. Users therefore do not need to keep SOL separately for gas, and there is no fixed minimum swap amount.
- Curated token list. Only tokens on Jupiter’s verified list, such as GRASS, USDC, and SOL, are available to reduce the risk of counterfeit tokens with similar names.
3. Stake GRASS tokens
- Low minimum. Staking starts at 1 GRASS.
- Seven-day unstaking period. After an unstaking request, Solana’s mechanism requires a 7-day unlock period.
- One-time account fee. The first staking action incurs an approximately US$3.30 on-chain account creation fee.
4. Withdraw or cash out assets
- Cash out to fiat. SOL, USDC, or USDT can be sold through MoonPay and paid to a supported bank card or payment account.
- Transfer to an external wallet. Choose one of the previously approved external wallets—up to 20 can be saved—and authorize the transfer with a passkey. A confirmed on-chain transaction cannot be reversed.
Fees and Grass’s stated policy
- Fee per transaction: A fixed US$0.15 service fee, used to cover Turnkey wallet-infrastructure costs, plus the variable Solana network fee.
- No fee markup by Grass: Grass states that it takes no profit from either the US$0.15 fee or the network fee; the full amount pays for wallet operation and on-chain costs.
Grass Wallet security risks and important limitations
Grass Wallet simplifies the experience, but managing crypto assets still carries important risks:
- The wallet cannot currently be deleted or freely replaced after it is linked. After moving to the in-app wallet, it is permanently tied to the Grass account. Grass says an emergency recovery-and-replacement option is planned for cases such as a compromise, but that feature is not yet available.
- Existing wallets cannot be imported, and dApps or hardware wallets cannot connect directly. The Grass app cannot directly import an existing external wallet such as an older Phantom wallet, connect to external dApps from within the app, or use hardware wallets such as Ledger. These advanced uses require exporting the Grass Wallet private key first.
- Security responsibility shifts after private-key export. Grass Wallet is described as an embedded non-custodial wallet. Users can open Advanced Settings → Export Private Key at any time, but once the private key or seed phrase leaves the app, anyone who obtains it can move the assets and the user assumes full responsibility for security.
- Unstaking locks funds for seven days. GRASS being unstaked cannot be moved or sold during the 7-day unlock period, creating liquidity risk during sharp market moves.
- Watch for phishing emails and fake support. An unexpected one-time password may indicate an attempted account takeover. Grass staff will not contact users privately to request a private key or verification code.
