ether.fi Cash card guide: sign up, deposit funds, and earn rewards

What is ether.fi?

ether.fi is an Ethereum-based decentralized liquid staking protocol. It lets users stake ETH while keeping more control over their assets, and receive liquid staking tokens such as eETH that can be used across DeFi for spending, borrowing, or additional yield opportunities.

What is the ether.fi Cash card?

ether.fi Cash is a DeFi-native cashback debit card. Users can deposit crypto such as USDC, or use crypto assets such as ETH as collateral to borrow USDC, then spend through merchants that accept Visa.

This guide walks through the full setup: registering an ether.fi account, completing card KYC, depositing funds, joining a Liquid vault, setting the card spending source, and using the card for everyday payments.

Main benefits of ether.fi Cash:

  • Cashback rewards: during promotional periods, card spending may receive cashback rewards.
  • Asset control: your crypto stays in your own account before it is used for spending.
  • Spend without a centralized exchange withdrawal: crypto can be used for card spending without first moving it back to a traditional bank account.
  • Put idle funds to work: funds not currently used for spending can be placed in supported Liquid strategies to earn additional yield.

How to register

The registration process usually takes around 5 to 10 minutes. Open the official ether.fi website or use my referral link below:

https://www.ether.fi/refer/27364ad2

Click Sign Up Today to begin.

Enter your email. Type your email address, agree to the required terms, and click Continue.

Email verification. Check your inbox for the 6-digit verification code and enter it on the page.

Set up a passkey, or skip it for now. A passkey improves account security, but you can also choose Skip for now and add it later.

Open the member area and apply for the card. After basic registration, open the Cash tab in the left menu. At the time of this guide, the virtual card is the recommended option.

Click Verify Your Account to start identity verification.

Identity verification (KYC)

Confirm your country or region of residence. The example in this article uses Taiwan. If the system asks whether you live in Taiwan, choose Yes.

On the next page, confirm that the residence country or region is Taiwan, then click Continue.

Start the verification flow. Click Start. The process includes identity verification, a selfie or face scan, and address information.

Confirm the residence category. Select All countries except USA if that matches your situation.

Phone verification. Enter your phone number, click Send verification code, then enter the SMS code you receive.

Upload your ID document. Choose the issuing country or region, then select the document type. In the Taiwan example, select Taiwan and ID card.

Upload the front and back of your ID document.

Face verification. Prepare your camera, make sure the lighting is clear, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the scan.

Fill in personal information. Enter your address, city, postal code, and other required details. Try to keep the address consistent with the document you submitted.

Complete the questionnaire. Fill in occupation, purpose of use, annual income, expected monthly transaction volume, country of birth, and other compliance questions.

PEP confirmation. If applicable, choose I am not a PEP.

Wait for review. After submitting all information, the system will process the application. In many cases the result appears within a few minutes.

How to deposit funds

After approval, you can fund your ether.fi account. This guide uses USDC on the Base network because the gas fee is usually much lower than Ethereum mainnet.

Find your deposit address

In your account, open Vault from the left menu and click Add Funds.

Select Share your deposit address to view your personal deposit address.

You will see a QR code and a deposit address. At the time of the original guide, the address supported ETH, Scroll, and Base networks.

Withdraw from an exchange

Open your exchange account, such as Binance or OKX, and choose to withdraw USDC. Paste the ether.fi deposit address and make sure the network is BASE. After the transaction is confirmed on-chain, the funds should appear in your ether.fi Vault balance.

How to join a Liquid vault

One reason to use ether.fi is that idle funds can be allocated to supported DeFi strategies. In the original example, the Market-Neutral USD pool showed an advertised APY around 10%. Rates can change, so always check the current number inside ether.fi before depositing.

Open Vault, then click Earn with Liquid.

On the Earn more with your assets page, find Market-Neutral USD and click Deposit.

Enter the USDC amount you want to deposit. The system will show the liquidUSD amount you receive. Click Deposit to finish.

How to add the card to Google Wallet

Open the Cash tab from the left menu. In the card details area, click Show Card Details, then add the card information to Google Wallet on your phone.

How to apply for a physical card

At the time of the original article, the virtual card was the safer recommendation. If you still want a physical card, open Cash, click Add Card, choose the physical card option, and enter your shipping address. Taiwan users can use the postal address translation page: https://www.post.gov.tw/post/internet/Postal/index.jsp?ID=207.

Use liquidUSD for card spending

After depositing USDC into a Liquid strategy, you receive liquidUSD. You can still use that balance for card spending while it is allocated to the strategy.

In the card settings, find the Spend with USDC option.

Click it to open the Select spend option window, choose liquidUSD, and click Select.

Where to use the card

The card can be added to Google Pay, and in some regions it may also work through local payment apps. Availability, supported merchants, cashback rules, and card features can change by country, so check the current ether.fi app before making a large deposit.

How to earn points and membership status

The Club membership includes levels such as Core, Luxe, Pinnacle, and VIP. Everyone starts from Core.

  • Stake assets such as ETH, BTC, or USD.
  • Hold and use Liquid products.
  • Use your ether.fi Cash card for transactions.

Risk reminder: high yields and cashback promotions are not guaranteed forever and may decrease in the future. Evaluate the risk carefully and do not allocate large funds only because of short-term rewards. This article is not investment advice.
